The Durham Region Highland Dance Association is a volunteer organization which promotes and supports highland dance in the Durham region. DRHDA offers 3 competitions each year featuring both highland and national dances. DRHDA supports interest in Scottish culture through dancing.
The Aims and Objectives of the DRHDA are as follows:
- To preserve and promote a continuing interest in the ancient tradition of highland dancing.
- To encourage interaction among highland dancers and their families.
- To promote and organize friendly and healthy competition within the highland dancing community in cooperation with other dancing associations.
- To maintain and uphold the rules of conduct of highland dancing competition according to the rules of the Royal Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing. (R.S.O.B.H.D.)
